Initial Setup Guide
After creating your account, RightOffs will guide you through a quick setup to personalize your experience.
Setup Steps
Step 1: Business Name
Enter your business name as you'd like it to appear on PDF reports and exports. This can be:
- Your company name (e.g., "Smith Consulting LLC")
- Your freelance business name
- Your name if you operate as a sole proprietor
This name will appear on your Profit & Loss reports and other generated documents.
Step 2: Industry Selection
Select your industry from the list. This helps RightOffs:
- Improve AI classification: Our AI uses your industry to better categorize transactions automatically
- Suggest relevant categories: See expense categories most common in your field
- Provide smarter insights: Get more accurate recommendations for deductions
Available industries include:
- Professional Services
- Consulting
- E-commerce / Retail
- Real Estate
- Healthcare
- Technology
- Creative / Design
- And more...
Don't worry if your industry isn't listed exactly - choose the closest match. You can always update this in Settings later.
After Setup
Once you complete the initial setup, you can:
- Connect a bank account (Pro plan) - Automatically import transactions
- Add manual transactions (Free plan) - Enter expenses and income by hand
- Start categorizing - Organize your transactions for tax purposes
Updating Your Settings
You can change your business name and industry anytime:
- Go to Settings from the sidebar
- Select Profile
- Update your information and save
